Sales Questions

What brands of canoes and kayaks do you sell?
We sell canoes by Wenonah, Bell and Old Town, and we sell kayaks from Boreal Designs, Perception, Current Designs, Eddyline, Heritage, and Old Town. You can see the different models that we carry at our online store: www.canoepassagegear.com

Do you sell used canoes and kayaks?
We do at the end of our season. We are currently using our used kayaks in our rentals.

Where are you located?
We now have two locations where we do trips, rentals and sales. One in Taunton, MA on the Taunton River, and the other is our brand new location in Warren, RI on the Warren river. Click here for directions to the shops.

How long have you been in business?
We have been in business since 1992, so that would make it around 12 years of being a family owned and run canoe and kayak shop.

Trips and Rentals

How do the unguided river trips work?
Once you have signed in at our shop in Taunton, we bring you and the boats up river and drop you off. You paddle down the river, give us a call when you are at the take out spot, and we will pick you up.

How long are the river trips?
Our unguided river trips are anywhere from 2 - 6 hours, and you can choose how long you want to paddle for. We also have 2 or 3 day overnight trips on the Taunton and Nemasket Rivers. The guided trips all have set times, and they are listed on the guided trips page.

What should I bring on a river trip?
You should bring a change of clothes, shoes that you do not mind getting wet, plenty of water, sunscreen, and snacks. We will provide your choice of canoe or kayak, paddles, and life jackets.

Do I need to make reservations?
It's a good idea to make a reservation, especially if you want to go on a river trip. That way we can get everything ready for you, and you won't have to wait long. You can make a reservation by calling 1-800-689-7884

Do you do group trips for youth groups, boy/girl scouts, schools etc?
Absolutely. We can give discounted rates for the groups as well. Just give us a call at 1-800-689-7884 for more info.

What is the Taunton river like?
The Taunton river is a very beautiful river that offers almost 40 miles of paddling. It starts in Bridgewater, MA where the Town and Matfield Rivers converge, and flows to Somerset and Fall River, near Battleship Cove, and into Mount Hope Bay. The river is mostly calm, but there are a couple of places under some bridges, where there is some quickwater. It is a very diverse river, and there are stretches where the river looks like this:

Do you rent canoes and kayaks?
Yes we do. To make a reservation, please give us a call at 1-800-689-7884. The rental comes with paddles, life jackets, and equipment used to tie a boat to a car or truck.
