Outdoor Education Program

'"Nothing is real until it is experienced"

Mission: The mission of Outdoor Education is to provide students with experiential learning programs that enhance awareness and scientific understanding of the natural world and their connection to it. These programs also provide opportunities for social growth, self reliance and teamwork.

Specific Goals

  • To provide opportunities for participants to develop leadership, tolerance and teamwork, and to learn with and from each other in a range of outdoor settings.
  • To provide opportunities for participants to develop self esteem and to form values, ideas and opinions of their own.
  • To provide participants with opportunities to experience genuine adventure and to be challenged physically, socially, intellectually and emotionally through outdoor activities and experiences.
  • To provide learning activities of sufficient depth, breadth and variety to enable participants to experience success and to discover their own abilities and interests.
  • To provide a friendly, safe, caring and supportive learning environment.
  • To provide an atmosphere which encourages participants to show consideration for the natural environment.
  • To provide opportunities for students to develop life long interests and skills.

Programs

At Canoe Passage Outfitters, the outdoors is our classrom. Away from the noise of the modern world, we provide challenging, human - powered experiences in beautiful natural settings. We offer Outdoor Programs year-round. Each program can be custom designed, drawing on the many activities available at any given time. Teachers who are interested in setting up an Outdoor Education program at their school will receive assistance in customizing a program to meet their needs. Canoe Passage Outfitters will provide the canoes, kayaks, and other outdoor equipment needed for each program, along with the experienced ACA instructors/guides, naturalists, historians, and photography instructors, when requested to assist teachers with their programs.

Programs range from as small as a two hour canoe or kayak program after school at Lake Rico at $20.00/person to a unguided overnight canoe or kayak camping trip for $60.00/person.
