The Rice Family with their Restored Old Town
This Old Town HW model has 33 new ribs, over 100′ of new planking, two new decks, one new inside stem, two new outwales, two new inwales, two new seats, one new thwart, a new keel, new canvas and finish. Mr. Rice purchased his canoe in 1951 and has many fond memories of the trips taken over the years in his Old Town. Now that this extensive project is complete they are planning many more new adventures
Wood & Canvas
Canoe Building Course
Our canoe building course is like no other gift. The recipient will learn the art of wood & canvas canoe building and when finished own a work of art that he or she will be proud to paddle. Students will build the complete canoe, steam bending the ribs, shaping the planking and rails, canvassing the hull and finishing the bright work. Course includes all materials, instructions, use of shop & equipment.
Cost: $2,000 to $2,500 depending upon canoe built. Two models available 15’-2” and 17’-2” Each additional person: $400.00
Course length: Approximately eight full days. (The eight days do not have to be consecutive, and can be adjusted to fit your schedule)
GROUP CLASSES: Five or more persons. At the end of the class a raffle is held and the winner has the option of purchasing the canoe built for the cost of the materials.
